Kathmandu, Feb 20: Rachel Schiller, Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Programs and Operations, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, has arrived in Kathmandu.
She is in Nepal to attend the Nepali Army and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command joint Exercise Shanti Prayas IV at the Birendra Peace Operations Training Center in Panchkhal.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the exercise, Schiller highlighted Nepal’s outstanding peacekeeping accomplishments and leadership in building capacity of international partners.
Nepal is the largest troop contributor to the United Nations, with over 6,200 personnel serving in the UN missions worldwide, and exercises like Shanti Prayas aims to better prepare trainers and peacekeepers for these missions, it has been said.
The United States remains committed to promoting global peace and security by helping to improve the peacekeeping capabilities of these troops, according to the U.S. Embassy.
