Kathmandu, Feb 21: Srijana Bhomi has been elected President of the Infection Control Society of Nepal (ICSON).
Pramila Shrestha was chosen as Vice President, Nilam Devkota General Secretary, Roshani Thapa Treasurer, Roshani Rana Joint Secretary, and Ichha Thapa Magar Joint Treasurer.
Other elected members are Reshma Dangaul, Rukumani Khadka Basnet, Sabina Dangol, Rakshya Adhikari, and Laxmi Dangol. ICSON’s new working committee was elected at a function here in Kathmandu.
Established in 2020, ICSON is a non-profit organisation working for education, awareness, study-research and cooperation in the field of infection prevention and control in health institutions.
In the beginning, 24 infection prevention and control instructors were prepared by providing them a special training session in infection prevention and control instructor in collaboration with the Nepal Critical Care Development Foundation (NCCDF) and the Critical Care Nurses Association of Nepal (CCNAN).
So far, it has launched four Infection Control Nurse Certification Programmes (ICNCP). Sixty three nurses working in various hospitals across the country have undergone special training in infection prevention and control, and are at work.
Senior intensive care specialist Prof Dr Subas Prasad, infectious disease specialists Dr Prabhat Adhikari and Dr Anup Subedi, and senior nurses Krishna Devi Prajapati and Kabita Devkota work as advisors to the ICSON.
The ICSON has been playing an important role in every infection prevention and control program conducted by the Government of Nepal.
