Kathmandu, March 13: Actor Subash Rasali looks different from common people. The United States may be a dream country for many young people. Everyone seems interested to reach and settle down in the US. For fulfilling their American dream, they may be ready to push limits, be it spending a lot of money and taking up illegal ways. However, Subash looks different from that crowd of people. He rather said goodbye to the US and returned home to Nepal to chase his aim.
“I do whatever makes me happy,” says Subash, who was recently met in Kathmandu, “I was interested in dance and art since school.” He is so much involved in art that he forgets other things. He is popularly known as “Shaurya” in the film industry. His journey from Nepal to Bollywood is interesting and challenging.
Born in Arunkhola, Nawalparasi, he passed his SLC from Arunkhola English Boarding School. After completing I.Sc. from NIST College, Lanchaur, Kathmandu, he flew to the US in 2006 to pursue higher education. He studied BBA at Virginia International University. He also did part-time jobs there to support himself.
Four years later, he visited India from the US on a vacation. At the same time, he enrolled in a six-month special diploma course in acting in Mumbai offered by Kishore Namit. Bollywood actors Barun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor were his seniors. Famous people like Atul Mathur taught him. Actress Shivangini Rana was also his classmate.
Classes ran daily from 9 am to 7 pm. After taking theoretical and practical classes, his scope of understanding became wider. When he finished that course, he realised that he became an artist.
After the acting course, he appeared in two commercial advertisements. He collected experience by appearing in advertisements of bank and furniture.
With the aim of making it big, he again flew to the US in 2011. He trained again for 6 months at The Theater Lab in Washington DC. While in the US, he felt that he should live a life for himself. Time is short. No one can predict what happens next. So you have to work fast.
While studying, he worked as a sales manager in a diamond shop. He worked for the company for 8 years. Earnings were good, and he bought his own car, and a flat. He was living a happy life. However, he returned to Mumbai permanently, where he worked continuously from 2006 to 2016.
“I felt that I should not seek the comfort zone,” he says in a mix of Nepali and English, “I will not take with me anything when I die.” He believed that he could do well in art. After all, dancing and acting were his passion. He was a fan of movies since childhood.
