KATHMANDU: Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharat Raj Paudyal, in his address to the annual ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), highlighted the impacts of climate change and COVID-19 pandemic on the developing and poor countries.

Paudyal stressed the need for the NAM to focus on uplifting lives and livelihoods and contribute to creating equal opportunities for all.

Secretary Paudyal also confirmed Nepal’s faith in NAM’s principles and stated its committment to realising its goals of peace and prosperity.

A day earlier, Paudyal attended a high-level event on “Democracy Delivers” held on the sidelines of the UNGA.

On the occasion, he said that Nepal’s constitution recognise the universally accepted principles of democracy, guarantees proportional representation and participation of all sections of society in national life. Secretary Paudyal also listed Nepal’s priorities as being agriculture modernisation, infrastructure development, hydropower development and human resources.
