Kathmandu, May 6: A team of 11 climbers, including Sherpas, scaled Mount Makalu this afternoon. The climbing team stood atop the fifth highest mountain on earth (8,485m) at around 3 pm with Seven Summit Treks (SST), a leading Kathmandu-based expedition operator, said SST.

The expedition was as part of the SST Makalu Expedition 2024.

“Summit. Hardest summit of my life and not easy to come down. So epic, so exhausted, so exposed. Made summit around 3, heading down now. So tired,” said Australian mountaineer Allie Pepper following her successful ascent of the peak. She made it to the top of the mountain without supplemental oxygen.

The summiteers included:

  1. Shima Afsari (Iran)
  2. Ahmad Mohammad Mousa Bani-Hani (Jordan)
  3. Afsaneh Hesami Fard (Iran)
  4. Alessandra Kate Pepper (Australia) (No O2)
  5. Tashi Sherpa (Nepal)
  6. Lakpa Tenji Sherpa (Nepal)
  7. Phurba Dorchi Sherpa (Nepal)
  8. Mingtemba Sherpa (Nepal)
  9. Ngima Wangdak Sherpa (Nepal)
  10. Tawa Chhiri Sherpa (Nepal)
  11. Yangji Sherpa (Nepal)
