Lalitpur, Aug 26: Hundreds of devotees have thronged the Krishna temple at Patan in Lalitpur to mark Shri Krishna Janmaashtami. Vedic Sanatan Hindus are observing Shri Krishna Janmaashtami today all over the country by worshiping Lord Krishna with devotion.

Lord Krishna, the pioneer of Gyan Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, was born in Dwapar era on the midnight of Bhadra Krishna Ashtami, so this day is called ‘Shri Krishna Janmaashtami’ and the night is called ‘Moharatri’. On this day at Krishna temples across the country, there is a tradition that people fast, worship and chant hymns of Lord Krishna, and stay awake throughout the night.

Sri Krishna, who was born as the eighth incarnation of Lord Bishnu to protect all human beings from injustice, tyranny and demonic tendencies, inspired the human community to do good deeds by upholding the truth throughout their life. ‘Shrimad Bhagawat Gita’, uttered by Lord Krishna himself while preaching to Arjuna, one of the Pandavs involved in the battle with the Kauravs in Kurukshetra, is considered a holy book.

This book, also known as Gita in short, is believed to have been translated into the most languages in the world. It is mentioned in the mythological book that Shri Krishna, who showed his strange pastimes from his childhood, destroyed demonic tendencies like Putana, Kansha, Jarasandha and Shishupal. A line has been arranged for pilgrims on the south and north side of the temple for worship. Nepal Scout and Lalitpur Metropolitan Police have been deployed for security at the temple.
