Kathmandu, Sept 2: The 159th birth anniversary of Yubakabi (Youth Poet) Motiram Bhatta is being celebrated today by organising various programmes. Born on Bhadra Krishna Kushe Aunsi in 1923 BS and died on Bhadra Krishna Kushe Aunsi in 1953 BS, Bhatta made a profound contribution to the growth of Nepali literature.
Bhatta, a poet who contributed to the development and expansion of Nepali literature, published the biography of Aadikabi Bhanu Bhakta for the first time. He has been credited to introducing a printing press in Nepal, thus promoting the formal start of journalism in Nepal. Various organisations, including the Nepali Education Council, are organising programmes on the day.
