Kathmandu, Sept 2: Last month, Public Affairs Chief Garrett E. Wilkerson attended “A Night to Remember: Unraveling Emotions and Expressing Desire,” a celebration of music and poetry that delved into identity, self-expression, and the resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Organised by the Gehendra Dhimal Foundation with support of the U.S. Embassy, this event provided a crucial platform for marginalised voices, creating a space that champions free expression, according to the organiser. With powerful performances from poets, the night highlighted LGBTQIA+ issues and reinforced the importance of inclusivity and representation.
Through initiatives like these, the U.S. Mission has expressed its reaffirmation its commitment to supporting queer rights, fostering artistic expression, and strengthening community connections.
