Kathmandu, Sept 6: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dipak Khadka said that a credible environment has been created economically, socially and politically. He said this while inaugurating the 3rd Nepal Electric, Power, and Lights International Expo 2024 which commenced at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from Friday.
He asserted that Nepali citizens have supported and spontaneously put their faith in the coalition government involving two big political parties, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, as the current government has the responsibility to move the country forward economically.
Ensuring that the current government remains until the next elections, he urged the private sector to increase investment with confidence. He expressed the belief that such fairs will help make economic activities of the country viable.
While emphasising the country’s goal of producing 28,500 megawatts of electricity in the next 10 years and increase domestic consumption, the minister said the private sector should support the government.
He also praised big companies for their efforts to meet the country’s current needs. “Now the country needs 28,500 megawatts of electricity in 10 years, and efforts are underway to sell 20,000 megawatts electricity and increase domestic consumption.”
Things like setting up transformers and transmission lines, and household consumables will help the government achieve its goal of increasing domestic consumption, he stated.
