Kathmandu, Sept 26: U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson participated in a discussion with a group of Nepali women journalists in Kathmandu, focusing on pressing issues like Nepal’s evolving media landscape, women’s representation in media, and the rise of mis/disinformation and cyberbullying.
Ambassador Thompson was joined by other U.S. Embassy officials, including, Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker, and Embassy Spokesperson Zehra Naqvi, and USAID Nepal Mission Director Katie Donohoe.
According to the Embassy, it actively supports and encourages women in the press and media through multiple grants and exchanges.
By promoting media literacy and fostering platforms for women journalists to thrive, the United States reaffirms its commitment to amplify women’s voices in the media and ensure a more inclusive, accountable, and resilient press in Nepal.
