Lawmakers have demanded investigations and action against those involved in a looting incident took place in Balaju, Kathmandu, on February 13. The looting took place taking advantage of a protest movement launched by the transport entrepreneurs. They also through the Speaker drew the attention of the government to manage foolproof security. Speaking at the zero hour in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Surya Thapa said the government should not keep a mum on the incident while asking it to inform the parliament about details of the incident. Lawmakers Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Shishir Khanal and Shankar Bhandari and demanded a stern action against the guilty in the incident, and compensations to the victims. Similarly, Gyan Bahadur Shahi drew the attention of the government to manage prompt security referring to the incident. Gyanu Basnet Subedi demanded necessary arrangements for farmers to get fair value of their products.

She referred to complaints by farmers that they could not get fair value of their products. Banita Kumari Singh drew the attention of the government to a delay in the construction of the Postal Highway. Referring to suicide cases taking place on a daily basis, Bishwo Prakash Sharma demanded the creation of mental health awareness and an end to cumbersome administrative services. Shakti Bahadur Basnet demanded that arrangements should be made for government hospitals to provide the medicines provided by the government for free. He referred to complaints about government health institutions lacking such type of medicines. Similarly, Shova Gyawali demanded a repair of a bridge in Bardiya district while Saraswati Subba asked the government to ensure accommodation to the landless squatters in Kathmandu before driving them away.

Sarita Prasain drew the attention of the government to address complaints of farmers about the non-availability of fertilisers and seeds in time. Also, Sarita Bhusal requested the government to provide payments to sugarcane farmers of Nawalparasi district, who have been deprived of their payments for long. Shanti Chaudhary demanded the listing of Sonaha community in Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts as minorities while Sumana Shrestha asked for the publication of the report of the national census recently carried out. Surendra Raj Acharya drew the attention of the respective sector to stray animals in Kapilvastu, and Sobita Gautam shed light on many people being deprived of accessible loans. Hitraj Pandey asked the government to conclude remaining task of the peace process at the earliest. Similarly, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki demanded the conservation of the Baraha temple in Sunsari district being eroded by the local river. Also, Santosh Chalise demanded a removal of a check post in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park as the local people according to him have to pay for an entry to reach their villages.
