KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Scotland today in a match under the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular ODI (One Day International) series.

The venue for the match is Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.

Scotland made it to the final after thrashing Namibia by 10 wickets in a match on Wednesday. Out of the total 33 matches under the ODI it played, Scotland secured a win in 23, and lost eight. It has topped the group with 48 points. The ODI started in 2019.

Now, it will play two matches against Nepal, and one against Namibia.

For Nepal, it registered a historic two-wicket win against Namibia in a match on February 14. Monty Desai coached the Nepali national cricket team. Out of the total 25 matches it played so far, it won nine, and lost 14. It has yet to play remaining 11 matches. It is placed in the sixth position with 20 points.

Each team will play four matches in the series. All teams will play 36 matches when the League 2 cycle (from August, 2019 to March, 2023) completes. Nepal has to secure a win at eight games out of the remaining 11 matches to play.

Now, it is under pressure to secure a win in remaining matches to retain its One-Day International (ODI) status. A team should be placed in the fifth position to get the ODI status. It for the first time got the ODI status in 2018 in the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2018. Its ODI status is expiring in coming July.

Out of the total 36 matches it played, Oman won 21 and lost 13, being in the second position with 44 points.
Similarly, Namibia is placed in the third position with 37 points by winning 18 and losing 13 out of the total 32 matches it played so far.

The United States of America is in the fourth position with 35 points by winning 16 and losing 17 out of the total 36 matches it played.

Also, the United Arab Emirates is placed in the fifth position with 27 points by winning 12 and losing 11 out of the total 26 matches it played so far.
