Kathmandu : The CPN UML has decided to form a task force comprising leaders from the ruling Nepali Congress and UML for reviewing and amending the constitution. UML deputy general secretary Pradip Gyawali shared that the UML secretariat meeting held on Wednesday took this decision.

“We make a comprehensive review of the enforcement of constitution and federalism. We take stock of whether the suggestion of the unbundling report were put into practice,” Gyawali said, adding that a separate task force would be formed, comprising four persons each from the two ruling parties to conclude the bills under consideration in the parliament.

Similarly, a calendar is being made to end the delay in bill making. “An expert committee will be constituted for reform in existing laws. It will be given a mandate to suggest scrapping unnecessary laws, amend the contradictory laws and make the new ones,” he explained.

Moreover, the standing committee also fixed the date for central committee meeting of the party for January 4-5. The meeting also observed that party was happy over the performance it made in the coalition government with NC so far. Significant strides were made during this time, Gyawali asserted.

The Transitional Justice Act was amended, paving way for formation of related commission and the national economy witnessed positive indicators. The handling of foreign affairs by the government saw progress with the recent agreement on Belt and Road Initiatives Cooperation Framework.

Similarly, the trilateral energy agreement to export electricity to Bangladesh and operation of international airport in Bhairahawa were showing positive impact in national economy while the recent past saw 17 percent increase in revenue.
