Kathmandu, Feb 19: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that institutionalizing federal democratic republic, inclusion, secularism, rule of law, sovereignty and equality was the need of the hour.
In his message today on the occasion of National Democracy Day 2081 BS, the Vice President said we have no option but to move ahead by ending poverty, discrimination, poor education and unemployment to make federal democratic republic a success.
“Democracy should not be merely confined to as the form of governance. Democracy should be focused on making social ideals, characteristics, traditions, culture, goodwill and values long-lasting,” Vice President Yadav added.
In a democracy, no one is specially privileged class and no one will be discriminated on the basis of one’s belonging to a certain caste, religion, race, sex and others, according to the Vice President.
He also viewed that alliance between political democracy and economic democracy was imperative to sustain it.
