Widespread Violation of Ethical Standards by Medical Representatives in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal – Concerns are mounting over unethical practices by medical representatives of international pharmaceutical companies in Nepal. Allegations have surfaced that many representatives, despite being bound by strict company rules, are secretly involved in opening distributorships or engaging family members and politic leader in pharmaceutical businesses.

Such practices violate corporate policies that prohibit employees from working with competitors or involving relatives in business dealings that create conflicts of interest. However, lack of strict monitoring and enforcement in Nepal has allowed these activities to flourish unchecked, raising questions about the ethical standards of the pharmaceutical sector.

Experts warn that these practices could undermine fair competition, harm public trust, and compromise the integrity of the healthcare system. Regulatory authorities are urged to investigate and take action to ensure compliance with international standards.

However, not all companies are engaged in such activities. Many reputable pharmaceutical firms in Nepal continue to uphold ethical standards, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and fair business practices.
