Kathmandu, Sept 22: With the beginning of Dashain festival, pressure on the country’s air travel has increased. While there is pressure specifically on international flights, it remains normal on domestic routes, according to Tribhuvan International Airport.

The number of air passengers traveling from Kathmandu to various destinations during Dashain is significant. According to TIA spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, the number of air travelers coming to Nepal from abroad is currently increasing. Some foreign airlines have added flights as well.

Some airlines are also operating chartered flights. ‘Inbound international traffic is increasing. Domestic flights are normal as always,’ spokesperson Sherpa said, ‘There is a possibility of increased domestic flights in the next few days.’

According to spokesperson Sherpa, there were 106 international flights on Saturday, with 54 arrivals and 52 departures. Eight thousand and twenty-nine travelers have arrived in Nepal through these flights. There were 222 domestic flights. Among these, the number of passengers leaving from Kathmandu is 6,875, while the number coming in is 4,065.

On Sunday, 8,500 passengers have arrived via 55 international flights while 6,800 passengers have departed. In the domestic sector, a total of 7,887 and 5,505 passengers have arrived in Kathmandu through 229 flights.

Tribhuvan International Airport has more than 300 flights daily. Among these, there are more than 250 domestic flights and about 100 international flights daily. The airport operates from 6 AM to 1 AM. In the domestic sector, 21 airline companies, including 12 helicopter companies, are providing services. For international flights, 30 airlines, including three Nepali ones, have been operating.
