Hetauda, 20 November 2025 – India has handed over a 70-meter modular bridge along with specialized launching tools to Nepal, reinforcing its support for post-disaster reconstruction and regional connectivity. The Ambassador of India to Nepal formally delivered the complete bridge set to the Hon’ble Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Government of Nepal, during a ceremony held in Hetauda.

According to officials, the Government of India is providing a total of ten modular bridges—each 70 meters or longer—following a request from the Government of Nepal after the devastating rains of October 2025 that severely affected eastern Nepal. Valued at more than NPR 73 crore, these bailey bridges are being supplied under India’s grant assistance.

The newly handed over modular bridge will be transported immediately to Ramechhap for installation, where road connectivity has remained disrupted due to the heavy rains.

This support builds on earlier assistance provided in the aftermath of the September 2024 floods and landslides. India had supplied ten prefabricated steel bridges worth NPR 41 crore, of which four have already been installed across affected regions.

Speaking at the event, the Indian Ambassador highlighted that the delivery of modular bridges and launching tools reflects the deep and enduring ties between India and Nepal. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s infrastructure development and post-disaster rebuilding efforts.

Nepal’s Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport expressed appreciation for India’s continued assistance, noting that quick-to-assemble bridges and specialized installation tools are essential for accelerating emergency reconstruction. He assured that the newly received bridge would be made operational at the earliest.

The Government of India reiterated its ongoing commitment to supporting Nepal in reconstruction, resilience-building, and disaster mitigation initiatives.
