Gorkha, Jan 23: Former Prime Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai, who had filed his nomination for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives member from Gorkha constituency-2, has withdrawn his candidacy today.
Bhattarai, a candidate from Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, withdrew his candidacy through his representative Narayan Khatri at the Election Office in Gorkha municipality-8, shared election officer, Mohan Prasad Belbase.
Similarly, Gopal Babu Shrestha, Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party candidate from Gorkha-1, also withdrew his nomination today, said chief returning officer, Bishnu Prasad Gautam.
With the withdrawal of their candidacy, there are now 12 candidates in Gorkha Constituency No. 1 and 13 candidates in Constituency No. 2 for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
