Kathmandu, April 25: A five-kilometer ‘Nepal-Egypt Friendship Run’ was organised in Cairo on Friday. The Nepali Embassy in Egypt hosted the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Development and Environment and Wadi Degla Protected Area under the slogan ‘From the Himalayas to the Nile—Let’s Run for a Green Future’.
The Embassy in Cairo stated that the event was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt Sushil Kumar Lamsal and Mohammad Youssef Head of the Central Administration for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Local Development and Environment of Egypt.
Welcoming the participants, Ambassador Lamsal noted that Sagarmatha Day, celebrated in commemoration of the first ascent of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, in 1953, is a symbol of human resilience and cooperation.
Ambassador Lamsal stated that Nepal’s traditional practices such as yoga, meditation and harmony with nature strengthen the relationship between environmental conservation and human health.
Chief Yusuf appreciated the event for its message of environmental awareness and sustainability. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to building a green future and praised Nepal’s contributions to sustainability initiatives
