Kathmandu :Mike Harker, Public Affairs Chief at the U.S. Embassy Nepal, successfully summited Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) at 9:15 AM on 20 May 2026.
This marks Harker’s first successful ascent of the world’s highest mountain. However, he is well acquainted with Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, having previously summited Lobuche East (6,119m) and completed the Annapurna Circuit Trek in 2006.
Mike has long shared a deep and genuine connection with Nepal, not just as a diplomat but as someone who deeply appreciates its culture and spirituality. Standing on the summit of Everest must have been a profoundly meaningful moment for him, bringing together his love for the mountains and his respect for this sacred land.
The expedition was organized and managed by Seven Summit Treks, one of Nepal’s leading expedition companies.
Officials, friends, and well-wishers have extended heartfelt congratulations to Mike Harker and wished him a safe descent back to Everest Base Camp.
