Kaski, May 27: A three-member committee has been formed to investigate complaints and disputes related to the exchange, sale, distribution and compensation processes involving land acquired for the construction of the Pokhara Bus Park in Pokhara Metropolitan City-9, Kaski district.
The probe panel formed by the Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee is chaired by former judge Shankar Raj Baral. Former district attorney Govinda Giri and the committee’s administrative officer Prakash Subedi are its members.
The probe concerns 187 ropani of land remaining from the original 196 ropani acquired in 2030 BS for the bus park project. Around nine ropani were later used for highway expansion.
According to Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, the committee was formed following allegations that some individuals received compensation improperly and irregularities occurred in the distribution process.
The panel has been tasked with reviewing decisions, land transactions and compensation records spanning the past 51 years and submitting a report within 15 working days, informed Mayor Acharya.
“The committee will, through an impartial and fact-based report, bring out the reality of all issues related to the bus park land that have been seen, heard and raised,” Acharya said, stressing the need for collective efforts to resolve the long-standing issue and develop the bus park project as a successful model of development.
Meanwhile, the Metropolis has also formed two separate committees to identify genuine landless and squatter families among 572 families currently residing in the bus park area and to facilitate land management.
