Kathmandu : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has initiated ‘MoFA Knowledge Hub’ for the first time. The Forum was initiated under the leadership of Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, on Wednesday.
In the first session of the Forum, Shaguni Singh Shakya presented a paper on ‘Diplomatic promotion through gift exchange,’ Awas Piya on ‘Development aid,’ and Dr. Santosh Sharma Paudel on ‘Nepal’s diplomacy.’
After the presentations, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Khanal, along with senior officials of the ministry, shared their reflections on the papers. On this occasion, Minister Khanal noted research increases knowledge and knowledge helps in policy-making. ‘What needs to be done at present is important. The question is where and how we move forward in the next five or ten years. Such discussions will guide us to that direction’.
The ‘MoFA Knowledge Forum’ is a monthly programme where the Minister of Foreign Affairs and senior officials of the ministry engage directly with researchers, scholars, think tanks, and subject experts who play an important role in shaping the landscape of Nepal’s foreign policy. The main purpose of this programme is to bring research and studies based on evidence into the ministry.
