Lalitpur : Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has assured his party’s aspiration to stand together with the government and citizens in the massive disaster resulted in from the Bhotekoshi flood.
Puttign opening remarks at the NC’s Central Working Committee meeting held today at the central office in Sanepa, President Thapa emphasized that the disaster is not just a normal natural calamity but a major human catastrophe, and the state should engage maximum power in rescue, relief, restoration, rehabilitation, and reconstruction work.
“We want to assure everyone that we will stand with the government and affected citizens during such troubled times. NC will stay with them until the very last point where we need to reach, and we will assist not only in tasks we can manage but also by putting in extra effort for tasks we cannot handle,” he said.
President Thapa expressed condolences on behalf of the party for those who lost their lives in the flood and expressed hope that the missing citizens will be found safely. He also noted that incidents in which living citizens have been found during rescue operations keep hope alive.
He said that to make rescue and relief efforts more effective, better coordination is needed among the government, security agencies, local bodies, provincial governments, federal government, technical personnel, journalists, volunteers, and political parties
