NUWAKOT, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Megan Bouldin and a congressional staff delegation visited flood-affected areas of Nuwakot today to observe the impact of American assistance on communities affected by recent flooding.

During the visit, the delegation toured community centers operated by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Caritas Nepal, as well as the World Food Programme (WFP) coordination hub. The visits provided an opportunity to see how U.S. assistance is supporting affected communities through food, shelter, and psychosocial services.

The delegation also met with district police leadership to express appreciation for their efforts to locate missing American citizens. In addition, the delegation observed a recently installed U.S.-made bridge that is helping restore connectivity between Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.

The United States has committed more than $36 million in assistance following the devastating floods. The support includes emergency relief, disaster-response equipment, and forensic expertise to assist in identifying missing Americans and other victims.

The visit highlights ongoing U.S. support for disaster relief and recovery in Nepal, as well as the importance of coordination among humanitarian organizations, local authorities, and emergency-response agencies in reaching affected communities.
