Chitwan, Oct 24: The Nepal-India Cross Border Tourism Connect 2026 is to be organized here from October 26 to 28. The programme is being organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council (ICCC) and the Samriddha Chitwan Campaign.
According to Somnath Sapkota, the programme coordinator and spokesperson of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, International Coordination Council, the event is being organized with the aim of expanding the Nepal–India tourism partnership.
He said that the programme is being organized under the slogan ‘Promoting tourism while connecting borders and enhancing friendship.’
“The main goal of this programme is to effectively promote Nepal in the Indian tourism market, establish direct business connections between Nepali and Indian tourism entrepreneurs, and link Nepal’s tourist destinations with the international tourism network,” Sapkota said about the objectives of the event.
Sapkota said that a huge potential can be created in Nepal’s tourism sector if larger number of Indian tourists could be attracted to Nepal’s religious, spiritual, cultural, natural, wildlife, and adventure tourism destinations.
He said, “Promoting tourism in Nepal cannot be done just by distributing promotional materials. It is necessary to directly bring Indian tourists to Nepal’s tourism destinations, introduce them to hotel and resort operators, provide information about services and facilities, and create a foundation for business partnerships. This programme has been organized with that mindset.”
Programme coordinator Sapkota said that 21 tourism entrepreneurs and representatives from various cities in India will participate in the event. He informed that they will have direct meetings and business discussions with Nepali tourism entrepreneurs, hotel and resort operators, and local tourism stakeholders.
The programme will involve business meetings, introductory visits, discussions on creating tourism packages, and the possibilities of increasing regular tourist arrivals in the future. He mentioned that the aim is to connect Lumbini, Ramgram, Devghat, Nawalpur, and Chitwan into a single tourism circuit.
Sapkota mentioned that especially areas like Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Kapilvastu Municipality, Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Tilottama Municipality, Devdaha Municipality, and Ramgram Municipality can be connected into the tourism network to expand regional tourism collaboration.
