Lalitpur, Nov 1: President of Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has stated that any act against democratic values is unacceptable to the party.
Addressing an ‘Opposition Oversight Program’ held today at the Nepali Congress central office, President Thapa emphasized that good governance can be established only by respecting democracy, press freedom, and the fundamental rights of citizens.
The government must pay heed to democracy, citizens’ fundamental rights, and press freedom; we will act as a strong opposition to ensure government accountability and protect democratic values,” said President Thapa.
Thapa stated that the authority of the government must be guided by the law, warning that any tendency to prioritize personal desires and directives over the law in the governance of the state is dangerous for democracy. He stressed that adherence to legal procedures, institutional decorum, and respect for citizens’ rights is essential in all government actions.
