Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the communist movement must be made cohesive as per need of country and people. Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the establishment day of Nepal communist party here today, PM Dahal viewed communist movement should be unified and cohesive based on new thoughts and new basis. The programme was a seminar on ‘Nepal’s communist movement: Achievement, challenges and potential’. “Efforts to unify communists based on new thoughts and policy should be continued. We are in the same state.

Although those against the principle of people’s centrality are against unity among communists, we are for unity at present too,” he argued, informing that a socialist front would be formed within some days, which, he believed, would be a turning point to launch the process of polarization in the communist movement. He further made it clear that communist party of Nepal should be a unified communist party for which he had held discussions with several communist leaders. “If leadership adopts wrong thoughts and visions, it results in huge damage, invites big counterrevolution. We saw it in the international communist movement and even before us in the country,” Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) reminded. According to him, the general election of 2074 was a great progressive move taken by the communists.

The proposal for it was made by him, Dahal asserted. Unity among communist forces is imperative for national independence and unity, people’s livelihood, social justice, development and strengthening of democracy and republic. He called the leftist communists to take initiative for the cause of national interest. It is time to give a message by forming a united front of those who are against compradorship. Dahal also appealed to all leftist communists to return to Community Party of Nepal. Addressing the programme, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal shared that unification bid would be taken forward by forming a socialist forum among the communist parties subscribing similar ideologies, policies, principles, political orientation and working style.

Nepal, also the former Prime minister, expressed his confidence that the unification bid would materialize soon since the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was also taking initiatives for forming the front. “We could come out as a one party provided we seek compatibilities in our ideologies, policies, principles, political orientation, organizational thinking and working style,” he asserted. According to him, the public wanted to see the leftist parties merged together and he opined that it was not far either. Nepal argued that unification among the leftist forces was necessary to resolve the national issues. In attendance in the event were former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, CPN (Unified Socialist) Deputy General-Secretary Gangalal Tuladhar and senior leftist leader Chandra Dev Joshi, among others.
