Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has stressed the need for publicising changes and achievements made so far through the medium of film. She urged the accommodation of beauty, culture and geography of the country in Nepali movies. The minister was addressing the 23rd anniversary of the Film Development Board here on Saturday in Chabahil. “Publicity becomes effective through the use of technology.
It is the responsibility of film workers to include our culture and cultures and important achievements in movies.” She stressed the need for amending the Motion Picture (Production, Exhibition and Distribution) Act for Nepali movies to keep up with modern technology. Asking the Board and other organisations related to Nepali film industry to provide suggestions in this regard, she said the government was always ready to cooperate.
Similarly, the Board Executive Chairperson Bhuwan K.C. said the Board has followed due process to resolve problems facing the film industry including that relating to policy. Under ‘Katha Bank’, script writers of seven feature movies, and six short movies were awarded. Similarly, in the short movie competition, ‘Wheels on the Bus’ directed by Surya Shahi bagged first prize, ‘Junko’ directed by Mingso Limbu second, and ‘At Another Winter’ co-directed by Kiran Shrestha and Bhivu Paudel third.
