Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the government would advance the anti-usury bill in the parliament for its passage. Discussion to this regard was intensified, he reminded. DPM Shrestha said it during a press meet organized by Press Centre Nepal, Chitwan chapter here today.

“We are committed to forward anti-usury bill in a bid to solve the loan-sharking problem,” he said, adding that the bill will be tabled in the parliament immediately after the House is convened. He argued that even the opposition parties are not against the bill. The political parties were holding intense discussions on the bill. Government’s effort to cater justice to the victims of loan-sharking would not stop, DPM Shrestha underscored.

Moreover, the Home Minister viewed there must not be a long legal gap to address sensitive issues. On a different note, he shared that any person irrespective of post and position will be held as per investigation and evidences in the Lalitaniwas land grab case. “We don’t interfere with security agency’s works on investigation,” he reminded.
