Deukhuri (Dang), Nov 25: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has said the republic has helped in empowering women. At the ninth annual general assembly of the Neelkamal Social Entrepreneur Women Cooperatives Ltd at Sundabari of Lamahi Municipality-1 in Dang district on Friday, the Minister said daughters were treated with respect following the establishment of the republic.
“Now, women’s rights are being institutionalised. In a society that does not allow women even to go out, the issues of women’s rights are not only being raised in every sector, but gradually becoming mandatory and institutionalized,” she asserted, adding that cooperatives run by women are doing exemplary work, a lesson to those who belittle women.
The minister expressed happiness that women were connected to production through enterprise. She also stressed the need for the local government to play a supporting role in marketing the produced goods and services.
