Kathmandu, Dec 6: Nepali Congress senior leader Dr Shekhar Koirala claimed that majority stakes in Ncell, a private mobile service provider in Nepal, were sold in collusion with the country’s politicians, government employees and businesspersons.
“There are talks in the past some days that Ncell to be under the Government of Nepal in next five years, is being sold. It is not possible to sell stakes in Ncell without involvement of the country’s politicians, government employees and businesspersons. So, we are questioning leaders that why the sale of Ncell takes place?”
Stating that the NC has taken this incident seriously, leader Koirala in another context said corruption should be rooted out to make Nepal a developed country.
The leader was addressing the first district conference of the NC, Okhaldhunga. “There is dissatisfaction among people everywhere. It is due to corruption crippling the country. Corruption is a hindrance to the country’s development and prosperity.”
Saying that around 75 percent of the country’s people are dependent on agriculture for livelihood, he suggested the creation of job opportunities within the country by opening industries and increasing agricultural productions.
