Biratnagar, Dec 16: Executive chairperson of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Dharmendra Jha has been honoured with the Dadhiraj Subedi National Journalism Award. At a function held here today, the Dadhiraj Subedi Foundation honoured RSS Chair Jha with the award that also carries a purse of Rs. 25,000.
Likewise, litterateur Bhagirathi Shrestha was awarded the Dadhiraj Subedi National Literary Award worth Rs 51,000 while Doctor Ujjwal Chalise of Cancer Hospital Bhaktapur who was involved in the treatment of Dadhiraj Subedi was also honoured.
Speaking at the program, Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala emphasized that language, literature and culture which are the jewels of the country should be promoted. Likewise, member of the Koshi provincial assembly and central member of the Nepali Congress, Bhim Parajuli, said that there is no alternative to democracy and federalism.
Mayor of Biratnagar Nagesh Koirala shared that the Biratnagar metropolis was working to establish Pragya Pratishthan at the municipal level to develop and promote the language, literature and arts of the city.
Honoured personality RSS Chair Jha expressed the commitment to continue to work hard to build a good society while another award recipient Shrestha said that writer Subedi contributed significantly to language, literature and academic fields in addition to social service and has been a source of inspiration for many.
