Kathmandu, Dec 27: Central member of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Ranjit Tamang has urged the party leadership to give opportunities to new faces in the National Assembly (NA) election scheduled for coming January 25. Those, who already became ministers from time to time, and got other opportunities, should not be repeated into the NA, he viewed.
“The NA should not be made the platform for jobs and for settling leaders. This is not acceptable to us. Party should give opportunities to new people. It is appropriate for choosing those who have contributed to the party but have not got opportunities so far,” said Tamang, also former chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), the student wing of the Maoist Centre.
“In the selection process for the poll, qualified people should be picked who can strongly raise the issues of current political incidents, party’s ideology, agenda and issues in the NA.”
On March 3, 2024, one seat belonging to the Maoist Centre is being vacated in Koshi Province, and two seats in Sudurpaschim Province. However, the party’s former ministers, lawmakers and those, who lost previous election, have come forward to field their candidacy. Tamang’s statement has come as a response to the party’s indication to giving a chance to old faces.
