KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he has no other interests than promoting the national interests and the government is moving ahead in line with the constitution and the legislation.

In response to the lawmakers’ concerns in today’s HoR meeting in the deliberations on a proposal put forth by him seeking a vote of confidence, the Prime Minister said that it is necessary to maintain a balance between the new and existing political parties that made contributions to empower the oppressed classes, communities, and sections among tough condition.

The Prime Minister said that his party has come to a new system of republic and federalism from the monarchy and unitary form of governance.

Prime Minister Prachanda also said that his party joined hands with the UML in the past with the purpose to give some relief to the people but that did not continue for long due to issues on the part of leaders.

On the occasion, he asked the UML leadership to review why the gigantic Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) was not protected and why the province and federal governments were toppled.

Prachanda reiterated that he agreed to forge a partnership with the Nepali Congress for the cause of constitution, democracy, republic, federalism, inclusion, proportional system, and comprehensive peace accord.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that he did not visit the UML top leaders seeking the post of Prime Minister. “I helped KP Oli twice to make him Prime Minister. You (Oli) supported me once. For me, democracy, constitution, and the peace process is more important than the post of the Prime Minister,” Prachanda said.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister said an alliance with the UML collapsed in a short period due to misunderstandings in agendas. “We had gaps in agendas. Differences are in ideology and political agenda,” he shared.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also said that the new government would move ahead with new vigor after the cabinet expansion adding that the Prime Minister should not take the vote of confidence repeatedly until the Prime Minister holds a majority in the parliament.
