Kathmandu, May 6: Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth highest peak (8,516m), is now open for expeditions for this season.
A team of seven Sherpas climbed the mountain today, opening a route to the summit. The fixing team from Seven Summit Treks (SST), a leading expedition operator based in Kathmandu, reached the top of the mountain at 21:30 pm (Nepal time), said SST General Manager Thaneswar Guragai.
The team successfully fixed ropes to the top of the peak under under Expedition Operators’ Association Nepal (EOA-Nepal), he added. “With this summit bid starts, our team is all well at the Base Camp, and is eager to push for the summit now.”
The SST Lhotse fixing team comprised:
