Kathmandu, May 12: A team of 10 Sherpas climbed Everest, fixing a route to the summit for this season. The fixing team from Seven Summit Treks, a leading Kathmandu-based expedition operator, achieved the historic summit on the world’s highest peak, first in the Spring 2024, at 20:15 (Nepal Time) on 10 May 2024, said SST’s General Manager Thaneswar Guragai.

The team under the management of Expedition Operators Nepal (EOA-Nepal) achieved this feat, becoming the first climbers of the season to summit the peak from the Nepal side, and opening the mountain for expeditions this season.

“Our hearts are filled with proud and respect for our fixing team.”

The rope fixing team comprised:

  1. Dendi Sherpa (Nepal)
  2. Tenjing Gyalje Sherpa (Nepal)
  3. Namgel Dorjee Tamang (Nepal)
  4. Suk Bahadur Tamang (Nepal)
  5. Dawa Rinje Sherpa (Nepal)

  7. Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)
  8. Pemba Tashi Sherpa (Nepal)
  9. Pam Dorje Sherpa (Nepal)
  10. Lakpa Sherpa (Nepal)

“The summit team is currently descending, and we are now all set for the Everest summit bid with our international climbers at the base camp and high camp. We thank the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee and Icefall doctors for fixing ropes up to Camp 2, and EOA for the support and collaboration in fixing the route above,” said SST.

Earlier on 6 May, a veteran rope fixing team of seven Sherpas had also fixed ropes on Lhotse (8516m), the neighbor peak of Everest.
