Kathmandu, May 14: The Australian Embassy in Nepal has announced its support for 15 Nepali officials participating in the Australia Awards Short Course on Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM), delivered delivered by Griffith University and Alluvium International.
Participants recently completed their Nepal-based learning and are getting ready to travel to Australia.
In her address to the participants, the Australian Embassy’s Head of Development, Kavitha Kasynathan, said, “This course is particularly relevant in the context of where we live, the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. How we govern rivers here impacts the lives and livelihoods of many downstream communities, the estimated two billion people whose homes are in the HKH region.”
During their time in Australia, participants will engage in learning, network with Australian counterparts and critically examine Australia’s river management practices in Brisbane, Canberra, Albury and Melbourne. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of IRBM for the sustainable use of water resources.
“We wish all the participants safe travels and a happy learning journey.”
