Kathmandu, July 25: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has underlined the need to promote alternative energy, making it accessible to the people of remote areas.
In his address to a programme organized in his honor by the Alternative Energy Promotion Center here today, he advised the Center to make its plans prioritizing the needs of marginalized and far-flung areas.
“I also represent the remote part of the country. People in such areas may be deprived of the facilities intended for them. He urged the Center to focus on ensuring that these communities have access to its services.
Minister Khadka also advised the Center to explore the possibility of providing its services to grassroots levels free of charge. He underlined the need to empower economically and socially vulnerable populations for the development of nation.
Ministry Secretary Sarita Dawadi underscored the role of the Center in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Nawaraj Dhakal, Executive Director of the Center, stated that they are collaborating with various organizations to enhance rural access to renewable energy. He talked about the Center’s initiatives such as promoting electric ovens, biogas, and improved cooking stoves in partnership with local authorities.
