Kathmandu, Aug 2: Chairperson of the International Relations and Tourism Committee Raj Kishore Yadav said the statement made by the Chinese Ambassador Chen Song about the Simaltal accident is against diplomatic dignity.
He also termed the statement of the Chinese ambassador about the diving team that had come from India to search for the missing vehicles and passengers unfortunate. Stating that the ambassador holds only the authority to establish good relations between Nepal and China, he said commenting on Nepal’s internal affairs is not acceptable. Such comments will only create a rift in the relationship between the two countries, he argued.
Saying that the Committee is serious about the matter, he said it will ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further information. He also said Nepal and the Nepali people will not tolerate the interference of the ambassadors of the friendly countries in the country’s internal affairs while informing that the committee will give necessary instructions after the response from the Ministry.
“The bus accident was unfortunate. Two buses and passengers are still missing. Even now, the rescue and search operations are underway. For the rescue efforts, Nepal is asking for help from its friendly countries. The Chinese ambassador’s comment on the matter is unfortunate,” he said.
“The ambassador seems to have behaved beyond his official dignity. Our committee is actually serious about it. What is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs doing about this, we will ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for information about it in the next meeting.”
The issue has also been raised in the parliament. Members of Parliament have raised the issue seeking that the ambassador be asked for a clarification.
