Kathmandu, Aug 5: The United States has expressed its commitments to preserving Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, pledging to partner with the country to protect its treasures for future generations and visitors from around the world.
Through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), the U.S. government has provided direct grant support for the preservation of cultural heritage in Nepal. Since 2002 the U.S. Government’s AFCP programme has allocated almost $4.295 million to preserve Nepal’s 27 heritage sites, according to the U.S. Embassy.
The Kal Bhairav temple at Hanuman Dhoka was AFCP’s first project in Nepal, and since then, the U.S. Embassy has partnered with local artisans and communities to complete the restoration of 26 other cultural sites throughout the country.
