Kathmandu, Aug 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need for expanding the philosophy and message of lord Gautam Buddha through education.
In the 16th assembly meeting of Lumbini Buddhist University, Oli, also the university chancellor, emphasised that the university should play an important role in protecting and expanding the Buddhist philosophy that has made a historical contribution to the world human race.
Stating that Buddha’s taught is still relevant, the PM said, “‘Being a follower of Buddha philosophy and a monk is not just about wearing clothes. This requires knowledge and mind. We have started the teaching of Buddhist philosophy. We provide quality education that will last a lifetime. With strong determination and continuous efforts, we can achieve development and reach success.”
He also praised the university as being a source of consciousness, pride and history of Nepal.
The meeting attended by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai has approved the grace list of 285 students for the third convocation to be held in four months as well as the policy, programme and budget for this fiscal year, 2024/25.
