Kathmandu, Sept 4: Palesha Govradhan, who won historic bronze medal for Nepal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, received a grand welcome upon her return home.

Govradhan, along with coach Kabi Raj Negi Lama, and fellow athlete Bharat Singh Mehata was greeted by a cheering crowd at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Palesha won a bronze medal in the women’s k44 under 57 kg weight category taekwondo competition at the Grand Palais in Paris, becoming the first ever athlete from Nepal to win a Paralympic medal.

Minister for Youth and Sports Minister Teju Lal Chaudhary, National Sports Council Member Secretary Tank Lal Ghising, Rakhapai and Board Member Anjana Maske, Taekwondo Olympian Sangina Baidya, Govradhan’s parents, national players of various sports and thousands of sportspersons joined in the celebration.

Govradhan and her team were taken round of the city accompanied by music and celebration before they were later honoured at a special programme at the office of the National Sports Council.
