Kathmandu, Sept 21: The Pacific Angel 24-2 Exercise concluded on Friday in Kathmandu, Nepal. This joint initiative between the Nepali Army and U.S. Pacific Air Forces aimed to promote humanitarian assistance and disaster response capabilities through cooperation between military, civilian and non-governmental organisation, and improves search and rescue collaboration between the two countries.
The fourth edition of the exercise featured expert exchanges in a range of areas, including aircraft maintenance, aircrew operations, personnel recovery in adverse terrain, swift water and flood recovery, patient movement, and medical responses to hazardous materials.
The exercise was conducted on 15-20 September, 2024, in Kathmandu, Makawanpur and Dhading districts. The Pacific Angel Exercise series began in 2012.
Over the years, various joint exercises were conducted between the Nepali Army and the U.S. Army focusing on disaster management and humanitarian assistance with the aim of enhancing the disaster response capacity. These exercises facilitated knowledge exchange and helped enhance the military professional capabilities, it has been said.
