Kathmandu, Sept 24: The U.S. Government has announced its support for the newly launched five-year Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) – Nepal Country Plan for 2024-2028.
This strategy, implemented through USAID Nepal, aims to reduce poverty, hunger, and malnutrition by promoting sustainable agriculture and economic growth, focusing on building resilience and improving nutrition, especially for women and children.
As a part of this initiative, the USAID Agricultural Direct Financing Activity, a new government-to-government partnership valued at up to $21 million, is expected to help 69,000 households adopt improved agricultural practices spanning 53,000 hectares.
The U.S. Embassy in Nepal emphasised the collaborative effort, stating, “Together, we are working towards a more food-secure and resilient future for Nepal’s communities.”
