Kathmandu, Sept 28: The U.S. Department of State has launched the Young South Asian Leaders Initiative (YSALI), a programme aimed to empower youth from across South Asia, including Nepal.
The programme will bring together youth from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to address shared issues of importance, including economic opportunity, environmental resilience, and civic participation.
With more than 420 million young people, South Asia has the potential to drive vibrant and productive economies and innovate for shared regional challenges.
At the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Acting Under Secretary Satterfield and Assistant Secretary Lu emphasised the programme’s aim to help build a more connected, prosperous, and resilient future for the region by promoting a new generation of South Asian leaders.
YSALI will offer leadership training, networking opportunities, and professional exchanges to encourage civic participation, environmental resilience, and shared prosperity across the region.
