Kathmandu, Oct 3: Relief was distributed to more than 300 flood and landslide-affected families of Roshi rural municipality in Kavrepalanchowk district today. The relief was distributed at the initiation of the Manav Sewa Ashram and Ani Choeying Drolma Foundation.

The relief goods were handed to 186 affected families at Narayantar, Ward number 2 of the rural municipality and to around 150 families at Mahadevsthan, Ward number 5. The relief materials included food grains and foodstuff, clothes, blankets and solar lights along with mobile charger worth Rs 3 million, according to Ramji Adhikari, the Central Chairman of the Manav Sewa Ashram.

The relief materials were transported to the affected area via a Nepali Army helicopter, he said.

Foundation Chairperson and philanthropist Ani Choeying Drolma said the relief assistance has been provided as a humanitarian duty of a citizen at times of distress in the aftermath of the disaster.

She urged the government and the bodies concerned to take concrete steps for better managing the relief and rehabilitation works in the affected areas.

Rural Municipality Chairman Dinesh Lama thanked the two organizations for providing relief to the needy people. He said the local government is making efforts to restore power supply, drinking water, road transport and other services at the earliest.
