Lalitpur, Oct 6: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed the District Administration Office and the District Security Committee, Lalitpur, to promptly send the details of beneficiaries for the government’s post-disaster relief and compensation. He said the government plans to compensate those affected by the recent flooding and landslides in the district within the next three days.

“The government has taken the issues seriously and it is its responsibility to promptly rescue and compensate the affected to make their lives convenient,” he said, wanting all the bodies concerned to assess the loss details on time and respond to the post-disaster needs seriously.

Today, the minister inspected the disaster-affected areas in Godavari of Lalitpur.

During a meeting with the District Security this morning, he received updates on the progress in relief and rescue efforts and the physical loss caused by the disasters. He also visited the Lele-based Anandwan Hospital, which was affected by the landslide that killed hospital research technical officer Bibek Singh. He had been working with the hospital for 32 days.

Lalitpur’s Chief District Officer, Tulasi Bahadur Shrestha apprised the Home Minister that 39 families of the deceased have been provided Rs 200 thousand each at their doorsteps.

Bagmati Province Minister for Youth and Sports, Min Krishna Maharjan, District Coordination Committee Lalitpur’s Chief Rhishi Dev Phuyal, Godavari municipality mayor Gajendra Maharjan and local representatives accompanied the Minister during the visit.
