Lalitpur, Oct 6: In the ‘Food System Innovation Challenge 2024’ competition, Ashirwad Raj Jha of Nepal has won the second position. Altogether18 teams from nine different countries across the world competed in the tournament held in the Netherlands.
Jha participated in the competition from ‘Group Eco Grub’.
According to his brother Abhinabh Jha, the group led by Ashirwad, a student of Kathmandu Forestry College, secured the second place in the competition.
On behalf of ‘Group Eco Grub’, Ashirwad presented an ‘innovative’ solution based on the research of ‘black soldier fly’ in his project.
It is believed that this research will help in finding durable and sustainable solutions in the food system. The use of black soldier shrimp helps in waste management and nutrient recovery. It is believed that it will contribute significantly to solving environmental and agricultural problems.
After the success achieved in this competition, the ‘Eco Grub’ group is preparing for the Youth Food Lab programme. This event will be held in October 2025 in Rome, Italy. Where the winning teams will get the opportunity to further expand and implement their project in global arena.
