Kathmandu : Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said government would gradually make public services tech-friendly.
Inaugurating an E-Chalan (digital chit) service launched by the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office here Sunday, Home Minister Lekhak informed that government was committed to providing public service in a convenient, transparent and hassle-free manner.
“Government is working actively to ensure tech-friendly governance. Once the technology is implemented fully, it helps ensure good governance,” he reminded.
The introduction of digital chit helps traffic police get rid of paper works for taking action against the violators of traffic rule. It also provides efficient service to the public.
He reminded that road accidents cause a huge loss of life every year, so concerted efforts are essential to reduce road accidents.
On the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Devendra Dahal, said the distribution of digital license and e-chalan are significant initiatives.
“Actually, we need to provide driving license on the spot, but we’ve not been able to provide 2.2 million driving license cards despite conducting driving license tests,” he admitted.
With the e-chalan service in place, the traffic police is able to scan the QR code of anyone violating traffic rule via Nepal Police Mobile App. The QR code of the traffic rule violators is scanned from the violator’s driving license produced during the check.
