Kathmandu, Dec 3: Construction of the Siliguri-Jhapa petroleum pipeline has figured in talks between Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, Hardeep Singh Puri.
During the meeting held in New Delhi on Monday, they discussed the various issues—bilateral welfare and mutual interest, according to the Minister Bhandari’s Private Secretariat.
Minister Bhandari is currently in the Indian capital in connection with attending the Partnership Summit.
The duo also held discussion about the construction of Siliguri-Jhapa petroleum pipeline and expansion of Amalekhgunj-Chitwan petroleum pipeline as well as on past agreements signed between the two countries and their implementation.
Construction of gas pipeline in Sarlahi, relocation of petroleum depot of Tribhuvan International Airport and agreements between the Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Nepal Oil Corporation were also discussed.
On the occasion, Minister Puri said India was ready to support once the integrated report presented by both corporations is received, said Minister Bhandari quoting his Indian counterpart.
Similarly, both sides were agreed to hold all meetings of bilateral government mechanism regularly, mentioned Minister Bhandari. During the meeting, the Indian side expressed commitment to provide continuous support for Nepal’s socio-economic development.
